Wall Street Is Getting Picky About Which Bitcoin Miners Actually Deliver on AI
Aug 13, 2026
MARA and CleanSpark both posted revenue declines this quarter, and Wall Street is getting choosier about the Bitcoin miners betting big on AI.
The AI pivot hype is cooling off
For a while, pretty much every Bitcoin mining company started talking about pivoting to AI, and investors were pretty excited about it. Now that excitement seems to be fading a little, and analysts are getting pickier about who's actually delivering.
MARA and CleanSpark, two of the biggest names in the space, both posted double digit revenue declines this earnings season. Despite that, analysts at Bernstein still gave them different ratings, which shows how much the market is now separating miners with real AI progress from the ones just talking about it.
What this means
Basically, saying "we're pivoting to AI" isn't enough anymore. Investors want actual contracts, actual infrastructure, and actual revenue coming from it. Miners that can't back up the talk with real numbers might start losing favor pretty fast.
It's honestly a good sign the market is maturing. The easy hype phase is over, now it's about who can really execute.
