Starknet Is Thinking About Leaving Ethereum for Its Own Layer 1

Starknet developers are reportedly weighing a move away from Ethereum to build an independent, quantum-resistant Layer 1 blockchain.

From Ethereum Layer 2 to Independent Chain?

Starknet has built its reputation as one of Ethereum's major zero-knowledge rollups, but that could be changing. Developers are reportedly considering a move away from Ethereum altogether, in favor of building an independent, quantum-resistant Layer 1 blockchain.

Quantum resistance has become a bigger talking point across crypto lately, as the industry starts thinking seriously about what happens to current cryptography once quantum computers become powerful enough to break it. If Starknet goes this route, it would be one of the more notable projects to prioritize that shift by leaving its original base layer behind.

STRK Is Already Reacting

The market noticed. STRK, Starknet's native token, more than doubled in price over seven days as the news spread. It's still early, and nothing is confirmed yet, but a move like this would mark a major shift in direction for one of Ethereum's biggest scaling projects.
