SpaceX Is Sitting on a Big Bitcoin Loss, But Elon's Not Selling

SpaceX's Q2 numbers show a hefty unrealized loss on its Bitcoin stack. The company isn't touching a single coin though.

SpaceX just reported its latest quarterly numbers, and one detail caught everyone's eye: the company's Bitcoin holdings took a real hit on paper. We're talking about a loss in the hundreds of millions of dollars, just from the value of the coins going down.

So did SpaceX sell?

Nope. Not a single Bitcoin. The company is holding onto its full position even though the unrealized loss looks rough on the balance sheet. This fits the same pattern we've seen from other big corporate holders: treat Bitcoin as a long term thing and don't panic when the price dips.

It's worth remembering that an unrealized loss is just that, unrealized. Nothing is locked in unless SpaceX actually sells, and right now there's no sign of that happening.

This kind of story is becoming pretty normal in the corporate world. More companies are holding Bitcoin on their books, which means more of these quarterly paper loss headlines whenever the market cools off. The real test is always what happens over the years, not one rough quarter.
