Russia Just Made Crypto Trading Legal for Regular People

Russia just legalized regulated retail crypto trading, though crypto payments for everyday purchases are still banned inside the country.

Big news out of Russia. President Putin just signed a new law that lets everyday people trade crypto through official, regulated platforms. Before this, things were pretty messy and mostly stuck in a grey area.

The law still keeps one big rule in place: you can't use crypto to pay for stuff like groceries or rent inside Russia. That part stays banned. But for cross-border settlements, crypto is now fair game.

Why does this matter?

Russia has been looking for ways around Western sanctions for a while now, and crypto is a pretty obvious tool for that. Giving retail traders a legal, regulated way to buy and sell coins also means the government can keep an eye on things and maybe collect some tax along the way.

For the average Russian investor, this is honestly a big deal. No more hiding in the shadows just to buy some Bitcoin. Just don't try to buy your morning coffee with it.

We will be watching closely to see how other countries react to this move.
