Ondo Finance Signs MOU to Bring Tokenized Assets to Australia
Sep 16, 2026
Ondo Finance and Australian brokerage Openmarkets Group signed an MOU to distribute tokenized products and build new tokenized Australian securities.
A New Bridge to Australian Investors
Ondo Finance has signed a memorandum of understanding with Openmarkets Group, an Australian brokerage with its own financial services license, to bring tokenized financial products down under. The deal was announced this week and marks Ondo's latest push outside the US.
The plan has two parts. First, Openmarkets will help distribute some of Ondo's existing tokenized products, think tokenized Treasurys and money market funds, to eligible investors in Australia. Second, the two companies want to build something new together: tokenized versions of Australian-listed securities.
Why It Matters
Openmarkets already touches the ASX, Cboe, and NSX, so it's not some random startup jumping into crypto. Its CEO called tokenization a technology that's "already transforming" Australian finance, while Ondo's business development lead framed the country as a "natural next step" in its global expansion.
Analysts keep pointing to a multi-trillion dollar tokenized asset market by the end of the decade, and deals like this are exactly how that story plays out, one country and one partnership at a time.
