OKX Files With the SEC to Bring Tokenized US Stocks On-Chain

OKX is teaming up with Intercontinental Exchange to launch a tokenized stock trading platform, following a Bloomberg report of an SEC filing.

A new bridge between Wall Street and crypto

OKX just made a move that could blur the line between traditional stock markets and crypto exchanges even further. According to a Bloomberg report, the exchange has filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission to launch a tokenized stock trading platform.

The project reportedly comes through a joint venture called OKX ICE LLC, teaming up with Intercontinental Exchange, the company behind the New York Stock Exchange. That's a pretty heavyweight partner for a crypto exchange to bring to the table.

Why this matters

Tokenized stocks let people trade ownership of real shares as blockchain tokens, meaning faster settlement, fractional ownership, and potentially 24/7 trading. If OKX pulls this off, it could push other exchanges to speed up their own tokenization plans.

Regulatory approval is still the big question mark here. The SEC has been warming up to tokenized assets lately, but nothing is guaranteed. Still, this filing shows where the industry is heading: real-world assets, on-chain, with regulated players at the wheel.
