Kenya Puts 30 Million School Records on Avalanche to Stop Fake Diplomas
Oct 6, 2026
Kenya's exams agency moved more than 30 million academic records onto the Avalanche blockchain, aiming to make certificates tamper-proof and stop a wave of fake diplomas.
A Fraud Problem Finally Meets Blockchain
Kenya just did something pretty wild: the country's exams agency, KNEC, moved more than 30 million academic records onto the Avalanche blockchain. The goal is simple but huge in scale — stop the wave of forged certificates that's apparently been a real headache for employers and universities checking who actually earned what.
Instead of calling up a school to verify a diploma (and hoping someone picks up), anyone will be able to check a tamper-proof record onchain. Avalanche called it bringing tamper-proof e-certification to the country, and honestly, it's one of those use cases that makes blockchain click for people who don't care about charts.
Does This Move AVAX?
Here's the funny part: nobody's quite sure if this actually creates demand for AVAX the token. The announcement doesn't spell it out, and the price barely blinked. But as a real-world government use case at serious scale, it's hard to ignore. Sometimes adoption and price just don't move together right away.
