Kalshi Wants to Bring Perpetual Futures to the Stock Market

Kalshi just filed with the CFTC to launch perpetual futures tied to stocks, borrowing an idea straight from crypto trading.

Crypto's Favorite Trade, But for Stocks

Perpetual futures have been one of crypto's biggest trading tools for years. No expiry date, just leverage and vibes. Now Kalshi, the prediction market platform, wants to bring that same idea to the stock market.

The company filed with the CFTC to launch perpetual futures tied to equity indexes. If approved, traders could hold long or short positions on stocks without ever needing to actually own the shares, similar to how people trade BTC or ETH perpetuals on crypto exchanges today.

Why This Matters

This is a pretty big signal that the line between crypto trading and traditional finance keeps getting blurrier. Regulators are already dealing with tokenized stocks, and now perpetuals for equities are on the table too.

If the CFTC gives the green light, it could open the door for a wave of new products blending crypto style leverage with old school stock exposure. Definitely one to watch as the filing moves through review.
