JPMorgan Just Brought Its Bank Coin to Ethereum
Oct 20, 2026
JPMorgan expanded its digital deposit token JPM Coin to Ethereum, giving approved institutional clients a new network to move bank money onchain.
Big Bank, Bigger Network
JPMorgan just gave its digital dollar token a new home. Through its blockchain unit Kinexys, the bank expanded JPM Coin (ticker JPMD) onto Ethereum, after first launching it on Base back in late 2025.
JPM Coin isn't technically a stablecoin. It's a deposit token, meaning it represents an actual claim on money sitting inside JPMorgan. Only approved institutional clients get access, so don't expect to grab some from your average wallet.
Why Ethereum, Why Now
The bank pointed to Ethereum's liquidity and its growing pile of tokenized assets as the reason for the move. JPMorgan already has a couple of funds living there, including a government money-market fund and a private placement vehicle.
The bigger idea here is delivery versus payment: linking a buyer's payment with a seller's asset so both sides settle together, with no one left hanging. That part is still a work in progress, but putting JPM Coin on Ethereum is a clear step toward making it real.
