The Ethereum Foundation is hiring an AI researcher to hunt for vulnerabilities across the network's core infrastructure. Here's what the role involves.
Ethereum's core team is looking for some extra brainpower, literally. The Ethereum Foundation just posted a job for an artificial intelligence researcher whose whole job will be finding weak spots in Ethereum's infrastructure.
This isn't a random hire. The role sits inside the Foundation's Protocol Security team, and the person will dig into both the execution layer (where transactions and smart contracts run) and the consensus layer (where validators agree on what's true). They'll also poke around the peer-to-peer network and the client software that keeps the whole chain running.
Why Now?
Timing feels relevant. This comes right after the Foundation ran tests using coordinated AI agents against its own protocol code, and just weeks after a Coldcard hack drained something like $130 million in Bitcoin. Security is clearly top of mind across the whole industry right now.
The position is remote and open worldwide, though the Foundation says it wants someone who's already contributed to protocol development. Makes sense, this isn't an entry-level gig.
