El Salvador's Bitcoin Reserve Just Crossed 7,800 BTC
Oct 10, 2026
El Salvador added more Bitcoin to its Strategic Reserve this week, pushing total holdings to roughly 7,800 BTC despite its deal with the IMF.
El Salvador is still buying the dip, apparently. The country's Strategic Bitcoin Reserve picked up another purchase this week, pushing its total holdings to roughly 7,800 BTC.
A reserve that never stops growing
Since adopting Bitcoin as legal tender back in 2021, El Salvador's government has kept buying small amounts on a near-daily basis through its National Bitcoin Office, regardless of price swings or political pressure. That habit has continued even after the country struck a deal with the IMF that was widely expected to slow down official purchases.
At current prices, the reserve is worth several hundred million dollars, and it's become something of a symbol for the "nation-state Bitcoin adoption" narrative that other countries have floated but rarely followed through on. Whether this turns out to be a smart long-term bet or a risky experiment with public funds is still very much up for debate — but for now, El Salvador keeps stacking sats one purchase at a time.
