Dogecoin Just Landed on Solana — Here's What It Means
Sep 9, 2026
DOGE launched on Solana through the Sunrise protocol, pulling in $19M in 24-hour volume, but price action stayed shaky despite the DeFi upgrade.
DOGE Finally Gets a DeFi Home
Dogecoin just made a move nobody saw coming for a coin built purely for tipping and payments. DOGE has officially launched on Solana through the Sunrise protocol, a cross-chain gateway tied to Wormhole's bridging tech. That means DOGE holders can now plug straight into Solana's DeFi scene — think Raydium, Jupiter, and Kamino — without wrestling with clunky manual bridges.
The launch numbers were loud: $10 million in trading volume within the first three hours, and roughly $19 million over 24 hours. Not bad for a meme coin stepping into unfamiliar territory.
But Will It Stick?
Price action tells a more cautious story. DOGE was hovering around $0.089 at last check, down slightly on the day, even with a healthy 27% gain over the past month. Solana's memecoin sector as a whole also cooled off, slipping over 3% to a $3.69 billion market cap.
Access is one thing. Demand sticking around after the launch-day hype fades is a completely different question.
