Coinbase Just Got the Green Light to Offer Tokenized US Stocks in the UK

Coinbase secured full UK investment authorization, opening the door to tokenized US stocks, derivatives, and more for British users.

A Big Regulatory Win

Coinbase just scored a pretty big win in the UK. The exchange picked up full investment-services authorization from the country's financial regulator, and it goes way beyond the usual crypto license.

This new approval lets Coinbase offer stuff like US stocks, derivatives, and even tokenized equities to people in the UK, not just crypto anymore.

Tokenized Stocks Are the Real Story

The interesting part is the tokenized shares. These are backed one-to-one by real stock and even come with dividend rights, and Coinbase wants to deliver them through its own blockchain instead of using synthetic products.

UK users will also get fractional investing, extended trading hours, and the option to fund accounts with USDC alongside regular cash.

Basically, Coinbase is turning itself into more than a crypto exchange. It wants to be a full-on trading platform, and getting ahead of the UK's crypto rules gives it a real head start over competitors stuck with narrower licenses.
