Brazil CSD Taps Ripple to Tokenize Fund Shares
Sep 30, 2026
Brazil's central securities depository CSD BR is partnering with Ripple to mirror securities ownership records on the XRP Ledger, starting with BTG Pactual fund shares.
Securities Meet the XRP Ledger
Brazil is taking a real step toward tokenized finance. The country's central securities depository, CSD BR, has partnered with Ripple to mirror securities ownership records on the XRP Ledger. The rollout starts with fund shares from BTG Pactual, one of Latin America's largest investment banks.
In plain terms, this means ownership records that normally live in a traditional, centralized registry will also be reflected on a public blockchain. That doesn't make the fund shares fully "crypto-native" overnight, but it's a meaningful step toward faster settlement and more transparent record-keeping.
Another Win for Real-World Asset Tokenization
Brazil has been one of the more crypto-friendly jurisdictions in Latin America, and this move fits a broader global trend of financial institutions experimenting with blockchain rails for traditional securities. For Ripple, landing a partnership with a national depository is a strong signal that the XRP Ledger is being taken seriously for institutional-grade tokenization use cases.
